Friends in Christ on this 6th Sunday of OT the word of God challenges us to go deeper in our faith. In the gospel Jesus tells us that true holiness does not start on the outside but deep down in our hearts. The gospel way is not about putting on a show that others can see that we are holy. Rather it is about quietly allowing our hearts to be transformed by God. In the 1st reading by Ben Sirach, we are reminded that God offers us two choices, fire and water, (death) & (life), good & evil. Our words, decisions and actions can either build life or cause harm. What we stretch our hand to take depends on us. In the 2nd reading St Paul distinguishes between the wisdom of this world and that of God. Only the Spirit of God can open our hearts to understand the wisdom of God which is hidden and mysterious.
Today friends, let us pray for the grace to allow the Holy Spirit to give us His wisdom to observe God's law in our hearts and live it out every day
